In celebration of its 45th birthday, Tuks FM marked the milestone in the most fitting way possible — through music, the very heartbeat of the station.

On 14 March, the station transformed its regular Top 40 show into a special commemorative broadcast titled The Best of 45. This unique countdown took listeners on a nostalgic journey through time, featuring some of the most iconic and prominent songs from 1981 to 2026. The show not only celebrated music across generations but also reflected the evolution of the station alongside it.

Adding to the significance of the show, the broadcast was hosted by a line-up of notorious Tuks FM alumni. Former presenters returned to the airwaves to share personal stories, fond memories, and key career milestones, all highlighting the role Tuks FM played as a launchpad in their broadcasting journeys. Their presence brought a sense of legacy and continuity, bridging the past and present of our journey from Radio Tuks to Tuks FM.

The special lineup included: Peet Bothma, Dave Thomas, Quinton Jacobs, Tebogo Ramatjie (MSc), Richard Perry, Rian van Heerden, Michael Bower, “Papa G” Chris Erodotos Jordan, Joe Mann, Barney Simon, “Waynalicious” Wayne Van Jaarsveld, Rob Forbes, Alex Caige, Poppy Ntshongwana, Nadia Romanos, Kriya Gangiah, “DJ Tshepi” Retshepile Seakamela, “The Big Chief” Tshepang Moji, “Baxbara” Barbara Moagi, and Venita Engelbrecht.

Through a seamless blend of music, storytelling, and reflection, the celebratory countdown honoured not only 45 years of broadcasting excellence but also the vibrant community that has shaped Tuks FM into what it is today.
