In the wake of the new radio year, we are excited to announce that two of our own Tuks FM presenters, Neliswa Mhlongo and Barbara Moagi, have officially started their professional radio careers.
Neliswa began her journey in radio here in November 2021 doing late night and early morning shows as all trainees do. Since then, she has been a resident presenter holding down shows such as the Tuks FM Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Drive and Top 40 shows before finishing her tenure in March 2026.
In 2024, she won her first Telkom Radio Award with the Tuks FM Top 40 for Best Campus Music Show and followed that win in 2025 with Tuks FM Breakfast with Neliswa winning Best Campus Breakfast Show.
Neliswa begins her professional radio career at the largest radio station in Africa, Ukhozi FM, hosting the Ukhozi FM Music Show every Wednesday between 22:00 – 00:00 and Ikhwezi Lokusa every Saturday and Sunday between 03:00 – 06:00.
Barbara, also known as Baxbara, joined Tuks FM in May 2024 with a drive to grow her storytelling and presenting skills. She quickly worked her way from early morning shows to daytime shows, notably hosting the Tuks FM Top 40 show before ending her tenure in October 2025.
Late 2025 Barbara began hosting an early morning show on YFM in their training slot until 1 April 2026 when it was announced that she would join Tulz Madala as the co-host of ‘Uncensored’ on Mondays – Thursdays 22:00 – 00:00.
“We are tremendously proud of both of these talented and hardworking young ladies” says Station Manager, Nicole da Silva. “They were relentless in wanting to better their presenting skills and position themselves to be part of a commercial radio station and are a perfect example of how our volunteers can leverage the knowledge and time behind the mic at Tuks FM to set them up for a career in media.
