On 14 February 2026, this year’s edition of Pretoria’s most loved race, Sappi Tuks Race, began bright and early. With love in the air, it was an amazing event to attend with the entire family or friend group. This year featured the usual 5km, 10km, and 21.1km as well as a 1km for the kids to enjoy.

Professional runners joined in in preparation for their other races and qualifiers for the Comrades. Their presence added an extra layer of excitement, inspiring many runners who dream of reaching similar heights.

Beyond the competition, the race embodied a strong sense of community, wellness, and unity. From warm-up sessions and hydration stations to music and post-race celebrations, every detail contributed to a great experience. Families gathered on the side-lines, fitness enthusiasts connected, and friendships were strengthened through shared achievement.

We, as a media partner, thought it would only be appropriate to do an outside broadcast from the race so we could witness the excitement and fun from the front lines. Our presenters – Abongile, Moroesi and Mufaro – were joined by Kriya Gangiah, a Tuks FM alumni and current SuperSports presenter, for the breakfast show. Several interviews were conducted including the winners of the races as well as representatives of TuksSports.

As the day wrapped up and the rain began again, the awards were handed out and a deep sense of accomplishment settled over the event. Whether it was res students coming to support each other, families running together or first timers who decided to take the big step this just served as a reminder of the unity and community of Pretoria.
