Between the gorgeous backdrop of Javett-UP’s deck, the Ice Cream Ninjas’ playful performance and our Unit Leaders’ impressive lip-sync battle/karaoke, it would be impossible to say what stole the show, but one thing’s for sure our end of year event was nothing short of spectacular.
The evening brought together all of our volunteers, management and special guests for a night of recognition, laughter, and well deserved celebration.
The night kicked off with a round of fun awards that were voted on earlier in the month by everyone. There were loads of laughs as individuals were celebrated for their quirks, memorable moments, and behind-the-scenes antics that defined our year. From “The Gimba of the Year” to the “Timon and Pumba,” the fun categories reminded us that community and humour keep us connected and on the same team. Later, once mains were enjoyed, came the serious awards, the brand new and historic TuksFM floating trophies that represent hard work, dedication, and the spirit of excellence that drives everything we do. Volunteers who went above and beyond over the course of the year were honoured for their commitment, creativity and leadership throughout the year. A heartfelt special thanks was extended to former station manager, Lwazi Mpofu and Tuks FM Alumni, Poppy Ntshongwana, whose time and insight has been invaluable.
There needs to be a special mention for the food, what’s a celebration without good food? The evening’s menu did not disappoint. From the starters to the desserts (yes, we’re still dreaming about that tasty ice cream), every bite was a delight. The Ice-cream Ninjas definitely made sure that their team’s entertainment was not overshadowed by our bubbly bunch.
Overall it’s not about awards, but rather spending time together to reflect and enjoy each other’s company after a full and eventful year. Well done to our team, here’s to a great 2025 and looking forward to a fantastic next year ahead.
