Tuks FM is hosting a two-day event for radio and media enthusiasts which is free of charge and open to the public.
The Radio Indaba 2018 will take place on 2 and 3 October at Boston Media House in Arcadia. The event will feature some of the biggest names in the broadcasting industry, many of whom are Tuks FM alumni, in a bid to share knowledge and empower anybody interested in media and the broadcasting industry.
The first day of the Indaba will start with a panel discussion on ‘The future of radio in South Africa’. It will feature Tuks FM alumni, Tim Zunckel – a consultant who also works with BMH Radio – and Grant Nash, programme manager at 947, as well as Kudzayi Tiribabi, programme manager at Mix FM.
Another alumnus, Kriya Gangiah (Supersport and Jacaranda FM presenter) will speak about ‘Building your personal brand’, while AB Dacosta (presenter at Power FM) will host a talk on ‘Making the jump from campus to commercial radio’. The full programme for Day one is below:
Day two of the Radio Indaba 2018 will feature hour-long masterclasses focused on specific areas which are critical to success in the broadcasting industry, and are largely under-sourced. These classes are by invitation only due to limited space.
Mike Bower, Tuks FM’s programme manager, says the Indaba is a means of empowerment. “The Indaba was started as a platform to empower the youth of Pretoria. It focuses on empowering young people interested in working in radio, the future of radio and the future of media. This is the strongest line up we have had to date – I hope to see some future radio stars attend this year.”
This is the second year the event has been held.
